Pretty-Eyed Wonders

Breathe in the starlight,
It’s your hope.
When braving the dark night
And you feel alone.

I’ve got some stories
In bottles for you,
In case your worries,
Throttle you.

I’m here for you whenever you call,
I will catch you whenever you fall.

Now they are watching,
Give them starlight.
As you go marching,
Braving dark nights.

I’ve got your memories
In bottles for you,
In case those armies,
Rattle you.

I’m here for you whenever you call,
I will catch you whenever you fall.

I’ll be the friend you never had before,
I’ll be the one you can trust forever more.

Breathe in the starlight,
It’s your hope.
When braving the dark night
You’re not alone.

Unfinished Thoughts

I’ve got a habit of talking to my flowers,
I’ve got a habit of drawing eerie towers,
Alice really envied me and Rapunzel had to move to sea.
Because honestly, I like writing stories.

I’ve got a habit of flying off my rooftop,
I’ve got a habit of thinking pretty pointless thoughts,
Peter fell in love with me and the Hitchhiker sought the galaxy.
Because honestly, I like writing stories.

Dangerous Business

I stand on the road with a black umbrella, grey light,
Waiting my turn to get a kiss goodbye,
I’ll pretend I didn’t know you that well.
But the insides of me pound with the fierceness of a battle drum.
Goodbye.
Goodbye?
Goodbye.
Goodbye.

Maybe I’ll see you again,
In a few years time,
When we’re all grown up,
And we’ve dreamt of Rivendell and life,
Or found the entrance some,
Quiet months ago,
Either works fine,
We’re not really Bilbo.

And we can’t sit with maps of adventures we’d be on,
With slices of cake, tea and remnants of song.
We can’t pretend the wizard left a mark,
And a party of thirteen waltz in with gold at heart.

Because it doesn’t do much good to stray from the path,
Even Thorin and Company knew that.

Home is where the heart rests,
And perhaps where gold lay at best,
Not the dragon’s lair,
But that is where you fare.

I hope you’ll have enough luck for the return journey,
For there will be a return journey,
When you see that sunshine and this hobbit-hole is all you ever wanted to see.

The Pirates Will Come For Ye

How does it fare you
When all the ships come and make port
Does it scare you,
To know that you’re all alone?

How does it fare you,
When they come for your soul,
Does it scare you,
To face all you’ve never known.

The skies have changed as you’ve grown older,
And they lengthen and widen so you feel smaller,
The storms brew and grow nearer,
And the frightening mystery of the future grows clearer.

Just keep yourself looking to the sun,
When they erase that,
Keep looking to the one,
That said faith favors the blind,
You don’t get truth just because you get sight,
Some things are real that cannot be seen,
Some things are real that appear in dreams.

Faith favors the blind,
You don’t get truth just because you get sight,
Some things are real that cannot be seen,
Some things are real that appear in dreams.

Just keep yourself looking to the sun,
When they erase that,
Keep looking to the one,
Who taught you to never look back.

Believe

Only in story books,
Only in thoughts and dreams,
Only when you don’t look,
Only when you believe.

When my castle came crashing down,
And the rain clouds began to surround,
When the sun finally did go out,
That’s when I finally found…

Sunlight inside your eyes,
All my dreams came to life,
I believe, believe, I believe.

Only in pretty songs,
Only when you agree,
Only when things go wrong,
Can you learn how to believe.

When my joy got trampled to the ground,
And nobody else was around,
When I finally fell to the ground,
I found…

Sunlight inside your eyes,
All my dreams came to life,
I believe, believe, I believe.
Light streaming from the trees,
Dancing along with the breeze,
I believe, believe, I believe.

Only when darkness dawned,
When all the light had gone,
That I found,
Light came from you…

Sunlight inside your eyes,
All my dreams came to life,
I believe, believe, I believe.
Light streaming from the trees,
Dancing along with the breeze,
I believe, believe, I believe.

Only Stronger Brights

One morning I sat by the ocean,
And watched the waves continue in motion,
I thought to myself, ‘what memory show face?’
As I ponder in this forgotten place.

Say the sun lay upside down,
Say they paint it black,
Say the light came from elsewhere,
And say we never laughed.

Say I journey on, to the end of the world,
Say they capture me and it takes a peculiar turn?
Say the king of the woods rescues me and takes me home,
Say I decide it is where I belong.

One morning I sat by the ocean,
And watched the waves continue in motion,
I thought to myself, ‘what memory show face?’
As I ponder in this forgotten place.

Say you lied,
Say you tried,
Lay down your pride,
Lay down your pride.

I am only a humble dreamer.
I am too unperturbed to turn on a heater.
So relax, sit back, I’ll show you the stars,
And you can collect them in your arms.

Say you lied,
Say you tried,
Lay down your pride,
Just apologize.

One morning I sat by the ocean,
And watched the waves continue in motion,
I thought to myself, ‘what is your fate?’
As I ponder in this forgotten place.

Believing Again

This is an ache.
This is a pain.
This is the thought that nothing will change.

This is disbelief.
This is insecurity.
This is enabling lies to wrap themselves around me.

This is the end.
This is dying again.
This is permitting darkness to fall.

This is it.
This is my cry for help.

Light peaks over the horizon.
It is too bright for my eyes.
It is a different light than that of the sun.
I shield my eyes.

A warmth like no other, wraps its arms around me.
A comfort that no mortal can provide, seeps into the depth of my being.
I do not need to open my eyes.
I can keep them shut.
This is safety.
This is hope.
This is love.
This is truth.

This is me, coming back to life.
This is me, believing again.

The Spring Breeze

Once upon a time,
I went on an adventure,
I painted my room the color of the sky,
And soon enough the clouds came to life.

I rode the wind past the shadows,
And threw down sprinkles of laughter.
Peter Pan called me and asked,
“Take me along? Maybe we can dance.”

So I, sang a song,
And the birds sang along,
And it was the sound of spring.
Oh, I sang a song,
And He sang along,
And He sounded just like spring.

I began a fairy tale,
And I wrote with a fountain pen.
And streams of blue poured through the tip,
And I let my dreams begin.

And I wrote and wrote and wrote,
Until a sea took form,
And the captain of the ship,
Had to give me a lift.
He gave me a lift.

And I, sang a song,
And the crew sang along,
And it was the sound of spring.
Oh, I sang a song,
And He sang along,
And He sounded just like spring.

They sang,
Just like spring,

“You write so much,
It filled up this sea,
But it has inspired me.

Don’t you stop,
Dream out more dreams,
This world lacks such stories.”

And I write more songs,
And write more tales,
And no one can stop me,
No, no one can stop me.

My prince appeared,
And kissed my lips,
said, “Darling, you inspire me.”

So I, sang a song,
My prince sang along,
And it was the sound of spring.
Oh, I sang a song,
And God sang along,
And He sounded just, just like spring.

Winter Hibernation

Can you hear that?
It’s the sound of winter,
Calling, it’s calling,
It’s been calling all summer long.

My heart doesn’t feel warm.
No, my heart doesn’t feel warm.
As the freezing air looms in the open doorway.

They always liked the cold,
They always liked the cold,
Then they got old,
And I was still too small.

I never shut the door,
So I won’t appear as intolerant as she’s been,
But my mind is of frigid stone,
I won’t be the same again.

My eyes have seen so much harm,
Oh, my eyes have seen so much harm.
As the battle inside proved unearthly strong.

You always liked the cold,
You always liked the cold,
Then you got old,
And I was still so small.

When you awake you’ll see,
When you awake you’ll see.
I’m not what you perceived.
No, no, I’m not what you perceived.

Call on winter sleep.
Call on winter sleep.
I will take to hibernation.
I do not despise the cold,
But spring is for me.

If I could ask simple questions that most people abandon when young, then I would have discovered a trait of mine to be proud of.
